Expungement is the legal procedure for sealing a record of an arrest and/or
criminal conviction in Oregon.
If your Motion For Expungement is granted, the
Clerk of the court will enter an expungement order and send certified true copies of the order to
the FBI, Oregon State Police, Portland Police Bureau and/or other agencies
as directed by the Court. These agencies must seal the records of the arrest
and/or conviction in the expunged case and remove them from public access.
Then, in the eyes of the law, the arrest and/or conviction did not occur and the
records do not exist. This is beneficial for job and school applications, obtaining
a bond and other situations that question an individual's criminal record.
There are numerous criteria which must be satisfied in order to qualify
for expungement.
In some cases where a client is not eligible for
expungement, we seek a Governor's Pardon.
